A SUST student committed suicide
He posted around 15 sad posts till 2 am on Wednesday. In them, depression and longing for no one was revealed. However, the hanging body of a student named Arif Mia of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) was recovered from a mess adjacent to the main gate of the university on Thursday (October 5) in the morning. Later, the body was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue.
The deceased Arif was a student of the 2020-21 academic year of Sociology Department of the University. His village home is in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj.
It is known that Arif Miah lived in a house called El Saif located in front of the gate of the university. He committed suicide there around 4 am.
After the local police recovered the body, the university proctor Dr. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury said that he hanged himself around 4 am. Police arrived at 8 am and recovered the body. The exact cause of Arif's suicide is not known. I know he had mental problems. Tried this once before. He was under treatment for mental problems. The police will conduct an autopsy. His family has been informed. They are coming.
Meanwhile, the deceased Arif wrote in his last Facebook post, 'It’s a gloomy night, there is nothing to ask for. There is no power. You have to leave the familiar street, the familiar world. The world is very cruel, very cruel. This love, this beauty, this body, is futile. God's attention does not come here. The sun and the moon regularly measure the time and keep some longing souls alive. Life here belongs to insects. Love is stagnant here.'
Classmates and teachers of the deceased said that Arif Mia was suffering from depression. Which can be understood by looking at his latest Facebook status.
